Why region codes matter
DVD and Blu-ray releases may use region coding that limits playback to compatible players or territories. 4K UHD Blu-ray discs are often region-free, but bonus Blu-ray discs or bundled formats may still have restrictions.
Common labels
- DVD: Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or region-free.
- Blu-ray: Region A, B, C or region-free.
- 4K UHD: often region-free, but always check the partner listing.
